Don Stancell Bashaw was born January 10, 1950, to Bill and Dorothy Bashaw in Sayre, OK. After fighting the good fight with cancer Don passed away March 17, 2020 in Sayre, OK at 70 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Don was raised on the farm in the Berlin community and attended Berlin Schools. He learned welding from his dad and helped with the family’s custom combining business while living at home. Don was a master welder working for parks and Johnson and McClure during the 1970’s. Don was owner of Don’s Welding in the 1980’s. He also drove cross country for INTL Trucking and worked for Copenhagers Farm, which farming was his passion.

Don married Molly Pena on November 19, 1971 and from this union 5 children were born. Don loved his children and grandchildren. This was easily seen when he would talk about any one of them. Don enjoyed CB radios, hunting and fishing.

Surviving Don include his 3 daughters: Joann Bashaw of Elk City, OK, Amy and husband Terry Chick of Chickasha, OK, Stacie Bashaw of Chickasha, OK; 2 sons: Timothy Bashaw, Brandon and wife Eva Bashaw of Chickasha, OK; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Dan and wife Ida Bashaw of Hobart, OK, 3 sisters: Sue Dixon of Elk City, OK, Jane and husband Bill Eakins of Sayre, OK, Fae Ellington of Sayre, OK as well as a host of longtime friends, neighbors, and other family members.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother: Jimmy Bashaw and 1 nephew: Jimmy Dean Bashaw.

Memorial services for Mr. Bashaw have been postponed due to health conditions in our community and government regulations for small gatherings. A celebration of his life will be as soon as it is safe to have large gatherings.

The family has chosen Rose Chapel, Sayre with their services.
