Ned Leon Barton

Ned Leon Barton
August 18, 1936 ~ October 12, 2021

Bartlesville - Ned Leon Barton, Bartlesville, passed away October 12, 2021.

Ned was born August 18th, 1936, the son of Fred F and Florence McCracken Barton, in Hiattville, Kansas. He attended Bourbon County elementary schools and Labette County High School where he excelled in drag racing.

Mr. Barton joined the army in 1959. He was stationed in Friedberg and Grafenwohr, Germany as a machine gunner in the Third Armored Division's 52nd Infantry, Company D.

Mr. Barton enjoyed hunting and fishing at the Barton cabin on the Neosho river near Oswego, Ks.; taking care of his Beagle dog, Cindy, tinkering with old cars with his brothers and tending his mother's garden.

Mr. Barton resided in Altamont, Kansas and became a finish carpenter and worked in southeastern Kansas for thirty years. He married Rosemary Chitwood Farr in 1979 and relocated to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Mr. Barton became a handyman in the Washington County, Oklahoma area.

Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers, Max and Galen; three sisters, Dolly Clopton, Janice Preston and Elaine Brown; and four nephews, Darrel and Danny Preston, David Clopton and Tony Barton. He is survived by his step-daughter, step-grandson, one nephew and four nieces.
