Hermon Bert "Peanut" Barton, age 80, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. He was born on November 30, 1934 in Bethany, Oklahoma to Hermon V. and Bertie M. (Winn) Barton.
Hermon married Willie Mae Minson on December 14, 1951 in Bethany, Oklahoma. He moved to Guthrie in 1994 and previously lived in Moore, Oklahoma. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a former golden gloves boxer. He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and boating. Hermon retired in 1997 from Lucent Technology where he worked as an electronics specialist.
Survivors include his wife Willie Mae of the home, 3 children, Brenda Kaye and husband Mickey of Choctaw, Jimmy Barton of Guthrie and Carol Sugrue of Guthrie, 2 brothers Marion Leon Barton of Bethany and Ronald Wesley Barton of Collinsville, TN. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Hermon was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 1 brother.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM until 8:PM
