John Robert Barrios, Sr.
October 20, 1939 ~ November 12, 2017 (age 78)

John Robert Barrios, Sr., age 78, passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Sunday, November 12, 2017, surrounded by his three sons, following a brief battle with cancer.

John was born in Orange Texas to Ted and Hattie Barrios on October 20, 1939.

John grew up in Vinton, Louisiana where he graduated high school in 1955. At the age of 16, John began attending college at Louisiana State University where he obtained his bachelors of science in petroleum engineering. In the early 60’s, John began his career in the oil field industry moving him throughout the United States and foreign countries. He retired in 2005 and made Elk City his home.

John enjoyed flying airplanes, hunting, and community involvement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Michele Catherine Barrios and two brothers, Melvin Barrios and Teddy Barrios.

He is survived by three sons, Johnny Barrios of Elk City, Oklahoma; Corey Barrios and wife, Elise of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Trevor Barrios and wife, Ashley, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Whitney, Cezanne, Jake, Kori, Michael, Mara, and Kherington; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Shafer (Guy) and Patricia Audirsch (Mike); one brother, Troy Barrios (Martha), and a host of other relatives and friends.
