Thomas Michael (Mike) Barr, resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away in his home on February 14, 2014, at the age of 59. He was born on February 2, 1955, in Borger, TX to William E. and Phyllis Barr. Until age 11 he lived in the extraordinary community of Phillips, TX.
At age 11, he moved with his family to Puerto Rico. In 1973, he graduated as Valedictorian from Caribbean High School.
Mike was a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Software Development and Multimedia from Rogers State University.
Mike learned to fly in the 1990's and became a licensed commercial pilot in 1996. In 1997 he became a licensed flight instructor and taught in Bartlesville for some time. He went on to learn to fly jet aircraft and earned a position as First Officer in 2004.
Mike was a loving son and brother. He enjoyed flying, golfing, tennis, working with computers and spending time with his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his father.
Mike is survived by: his mother, Phyllis; his brothers, Ken and his wife, Nanci; John and his wife, Virginia; his sister, Tricia Derryberry; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Mike generously donated his body for scientific research. Memorial services for Mike will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville.
