Dolores Ann "Dodo" (Goad) Barnett

Dolores Ann "Dodo" (Goad) Barnett
September 23, 1938 ~ March 13, 2022

Dolores Ann Barnett passed from this life on March 13, 2022 at the age of 83 years old. She was born on September 23, 1938 at the Pawnee Hospital to parents Mary Madeleine Marie and Charles Anthony Goad. She married James F. Barnett and together they had five children, Janet Elaine, Mary Hepsi B., James Franklin Jr. (Barney), Dolores Elizabeth, and Melissa Gaye.

Dolores, known to most who knew her as Dodo, was a proud member of the Osage Nation, Grayhorse District, and a long time resident of Fairfax and Edmond. She attended school in Fairfax and later studied accounting at Central State University. Dolores worked as a Comptroller for the Bursar’s Office at Central State University, now known as the University of Central Oklahoma. She went on to serve as an Auditor for the State of Oklahoma where she retired her career.

Dolores considered her most major accomplishment the raising of her children. As a mom,she expected much, but always gave more. She loved to laugh and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. After retiring, she moved back to Fairfax and became an active member of Pahsulee, took up Osage ribbon work and finger weaving. Dolores also participated in the In-Lon-Shka dances and relished being surrounded by family and friends that time of year. She was an avid reader and liked to travel when she got the chance. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren

Dolores is survived by her children and their spouses, Janet Barnett and Pamela Hart, Hepsi Barnett and Robyn DuBoff, Barney and Pam Barnett, Liz Barnett and Melissa and Travis Langley. Grandchildren, J.J. Barnett, Josh Barnett, Jesse Birdsong, David Birdsong, Hannah Chase Westfall, Connor Reese Westfall, Madison Ann Barnett, Mackenzie Dale Barnett, Henry Fisher Langley and Elijah Osage DuBoff. Siblings, Francis Marie Goad, John Webster Williams, Vicki Doreen Mashburn, Lester Earl Williams and Mark Goad. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Williams and Charles Goad, her husband Jim Barnett and her younger brother Charles Anthony “Sonny” Goad Jr.

Dolores was a devoted mother and grandmother and a great friend to many. She lives on in our hearts.
