Bill Brown Barnett, 82, of Bowring, OK, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at Regent Park Care Center in Wichita, KS.
He was born June 10, 1930, at Hulah, OK, to Elmer Fletcher and Laura Jane (Brown) Barnett. Bill grew up and attended school at Bowring, graduating from Bowring High School.
On March 16, 1956, he married Patricia "Pat" Rogers at Dewey, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in the Bowring area where Bill and Pat operated their Ranch.
Bill was a member of the Calvary Community Church in Bowring. He served on the Bowring School Board, Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative Board, Osage County Committeeman for the Soil Conservation District, and longtime First National Bank of Sedan Board member. Bill loved being on the ranch, spending time with his family, and helping others in Osage County and Chautauqua County. Survivors include his wife, Pat of the home; two daughters, Debra Newton of Mannford, OK, and Joy Ann Ismert of Wichita, KS; one son, Ernest Brown Barnett of Bowring, OK, one sister, Helen Smith of Caney, KS; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bill's life will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Calvary Community Church in Bowring with Rev. Bill Long officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
