Don Calvin Barnes, 89, of Dewey, Oklahoma died Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his home.
Don was born September 23, 1929 to parents Calvin and Georgia (Holder) Barnes at home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He attended most of his schooling in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
Don worked as an oil tank builder in Texas before serving his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed in Japan for one year.
Once he was discharged, he went to work for Dewey Portland Cement Company. He then met Colleen Davidson in May and the couple were married in November of 1953. He continues to work there for 11 years until the company shut down. He then went to work for Elliott Plumbing and Heating for 7 years.
Don then started his own company, Bartlesville Heating and Air in 1969. He owned and operated the company until retirement in 1991.
Don is survived by his wife Colleen, of the home; son Alan and wife Renee Barnes of Dewey, Oklahoma, daughter Brenda and husband Ronnie Smith of Dewey, Oklahoma and son Kent Barnes of Dewey, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters Doris Lamar of Childers, Oklahoma and Janet Bell of Warrensburg, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lois Meek; brother Jack Barnes and granddaughter Amy Barnes.
