Memorial services for Laura Jean Barker will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020, at the College Hill Church of Christ, Alva, with Jay Tyree officiating. She was cremated at her request under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.

Laura Jean Barker, daughter of the late Claud Edward and Rella Olivia (Nauerth) Guyer, was born December 28, 1927, in Woodward County, Oklahoma, and passed away January 22, 2020, at Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years and 25 days.

Jean attended Pleasant Hill School through the eighth grade and graduated from Waynoka High School. On July 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Teddie Gene Barker in Cherokee, Oklahoma. She worked as an operator for the Waynoka telephone system, then at E.P. Clapper Hospital. She retired from her position as a clerk at the Santa Fe Railroad depot. She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ and the Waynoka Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and completing cross stitch projects. She also enjoyed helping deliver Meals on Wheels in Waynoka.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Esther Redgate and Charles Guyer.

Jean is survived by three sons, Kim Barker and wife Norene of Waynoka, Kelly Barker and wife Debbie of Edmond, and Bill Barker and wife Carol of Edmond; one daughter, Jo Brown and husband Jim of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Allez Jamison of Alva. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Melissa Scaramucci and husband Todd (of Nichols Hills); Heather Steele and husband Willie (of Smyrna, Tennessee), Abby Clark and husband Brent (of Norman), Jenny Hill and husband Chris (of Shawnee), Juli Barker (of Waynoka), Lacey Barker (of Waynoka), Larisa Waters and husband Damon (of Yukon), Tyler Brown and wife Amanda (of Edmond), Claire Barker (of Durango, Colorado), and Luke Barker (of Edmond); 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Northwest Treatment Center.
