William Orlan Bare, Major

March 28, 1941 ~ August 17, 1979

Major Bare was a member of the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. On July 27, 1967, he was the weapons system officer of a McDonnell Phantom II Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-4C) flying 5 miles southwest of Dong Hoi, Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
