He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Sammy Joe Phillips; brother, Paul Wayne Barber; stepdaughter, Jessica Hartman; and nephew, Kerry Kuykendall.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Barber of the home; children, Jason Barber and wife Jessica and Matt Barber and wife Tammy, all of Marietta and Jodi Ray and wife Dawn of Lone Grove; grandchildren, Taylor, Cody, Nathon, Alysa, Noah, Joshua and Colle; great-granddaughter, Ella; sisters, Patsy Williams of Lewisville, Texas and Deborah Murray of Granbury, Texas; daughter and son of his heart, Cassandra and Gunner Ayars of Texas; a host of nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
