Bart Montgomery "Doc" Ballenger was born July 11, 1922 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Dr. Bart M. and Julia Stephenson Ballenger.
He passed away at Inland Valley Hospital in California on December 3, 1997.
A memorial was held December 5, 1997 at Valley Funeral Home.
He married Virgie Mae Coon July 9, 1944. To this union were born three children, Norman Joe, Donna and Katie.
They moved from Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Perryton, Texas in 1956. Doc operated a service station in Perryton for 20 years. The rest of his life he sold specialty advertising.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, The Masonic Lodge, Weatheart Shrine Club and the Khva Temple in Amarillo and was a lifetime member of the Perryton Chamber of Commerce.
He had served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.
In May of 1997, they moved to Temecula, California to be near their children.
He was preceded in death by his son, Norman Joe.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie; daughters, Donna and her husband Larry Lile; Katie and her husband Larry Joe Lackey of Temecula, California; and daughter-in-law, Patti Ballenger of Lakeview Terrace, California; six grandchildren, Barry and Brad Lile, Austin, Jodi and Cale Lackey and Tiffany Ballenger; and one great grandchild, Davin Montgomery Lile; a brother, Joe Ballenger of San Marcos, California; and sister Raye Gatten of San Bernardino, California; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Doc was loved by everyone who knew him.
