Richard Dean Ball, 74, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018, in Arlington. Memorial Service: 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, Rush Creek Christian Church, 2401 S.W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, with Dr. Christopher Wilson officiating.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Rush Creek Christian Church and will be used to help support the Arlington Life Shelter.

Richard was born October 6, 1943, at Memorial Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, to Russell Franklin Ball and Dorothy Evelyn Streck Ball. 

He attended Woodrow Wilson grade school in Enid, Oklahoma. When the family moved to Fulton, Missouri, in 1951, he attended Fulton High until his junior year. 

Richard was active in football until he lost his right arm in a hunting accident. He became the football ass't manager and was very active. 

The family moved back to Enid in 1959, and he graduated from Enid High School in 1961. He graduated from Phillips University, where he received his degree in business and accounting. 

Richard was employed at Champlin Petroleum Company/Union Pacific Resources for thirty plus years until retirement. He organized a monthly luncheon for retirees and former employees that meet the first Wednesday of the month.

He was a devoted Oklahoma Sooner football fan and loved many sports, including hunting and fishing. Richard was a great cook, and loved to BBQ. He made the best steaks in Texas. He also loved to attend concerts and plays, especially musicals.

Richard belonged to Rush Creek Christian Church in Arlington, where he was an active member. He regularly supported the Arlington Life Shelter ministry at church. He loved life and lived each day to the fullest despite his disability.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and one great-nephew, David Paul Thompson. 

Survivors: He is survived by brother, Dr. Russell Wayne Ball of San Luis Obispo, California; sister, Joyce Irene Ball Thompson of Keaau, Hawaii; nephew, Mark Ball and niece, Lisa Ball; nephews, Steve Thompson, Gary Thompson, Corey Thompson; niece, Sheryl Thompson Mudock; and nine great-nephews and five great-nieces.

He also leaves behind Connie Hull and many, many friends and family. He will be sorely missed by all and especially by his four-legged baby, Rex.
