In memory of,
Glenn C. Ball, born in a half dugout in the early days of the old west, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colfax County, New Mexico. It was a beautiful dugout inside, painted wallpaper, floor covered.
Had no telephones, radios, TVs etc. His mother, a country school teacher, had a Victor Grafaphone, few records, played with needles...
Born in 1921, on his father's cattle ranch in New Mexico, and moved with his parents to Harmon County, Hollis, Oklahoma. His mother went back to teaching and grade schools. Took Glenn with her, he was four years old. I am sure he never forgot his early school days.
When he was six years old entered grade in high school in LaCasa near Hollis, Oklahoma... 2 miles from his home in Harmon County. Completing his grade in high school education in this accredited high school, graduating with honors from both schools.
Entered Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, there a year and a half. World War II getting closer, volunteered for the Air Force duty, trained at different bases in the United States, final training at Yale University, Hartford Connecticut, graduated with honors, duty Gunnery Officer on Title Captain Ball. Given a leave to go home for 10 days before he left the states for overseas duty. Was a happy reunion.
Sent to Tinian Island serving time on a plane long as the war lasted with Japan, some three years plus. Every opportunity available attended school while in service. Study of medicine was in his mind. To medicine for pharmaceutical degree or a medical doctor. Gave up the doctor idea graduating with a pharmaceutical degree, O. U. University, Norman, Oklahoma.
Times were good, money available, jobs plentiful, being a baby boom baby after World War I, now 26 years old, he said... I am a handsome man, want to find a pretty girl, marry, make a home with children. He met the girl on a blind date, Graduate Obstetric Nurse working with Dr. Parish in Oklahoma City, both interested in the medical work.
He owned and operated drug stores and pharmacies, other property during the busy years of his life. Also a designer of medical buildings.
Took time out to study his Bible, attend church on The Lord's Day. He will be missed by many friends and loved ones.
Preceding him in death, one son, Kevin Clark Ball, his father, James L. Ball.
