Glenda Bales was born August 23, 1949 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Iva Mary and George William Harness. She passed away January 28, 2017 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 5 days.
Glenda grew up in Elk City where she attended school. She furthered her education at a junior college in California. Glenda returned to Oklahoma where she was a member of the Berlin Round-Up Club and was also active in the Elk City Round-Up Club. In 1974 she met Larry Bales and they were married in Elk City on June 28, 1974. After their marriage they lived in Elk City for a short time until moving to the Berlin community in 1975 until 1990 when they moved west of Merritt schools where they made their home. For several years she was active in the Appaloosa Oklahoma Horse Club serving as the president in the late 90's. Glenda enjoyed gardening and working in green houses and her yard, barrel racing, play day's, training and showing horses in shows and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Andrew "Butch" Harness.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, of the home; 3 sons, David Bales and wife, Alycia, Elk City, OK, Christopher Bales and wife, Shea, Sayre, OK and Brian Foster and wife, Andrea, Elk City, OK; 4 grandchildren, Maridian, Faith, Christian and Garrett; 1 grandchild on the way; her adopted family, David and Amanda Metcalf and their children, Faith and Hope and a host of other relatives and friends.
