Joe Baker, age 85 of Criner, passed away Tuesday September 3, 2013.
Joe Elliott Baker was born August 27, 1928 in Rush Springs, OK, the older of 2 children born to Perry Joe Baker and Floy Louise (Elliott) Baker.
He spent his early years in Rush Springs and later Dibble before graduating from Lindsay High School in 1945. Joe then attended Oklahoma A. & M. for a short time before moving back home to work on the farm. Joe joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly. While in the service, he worked as a hydraulics mechanic and instructor.
Joe returned to Criner and married Blanche Powell. To this union, a son, Joe Curtis and daughter, Mitzi were born.
Joe dedicated his whole life to his farm. He took great pride in his land. He ran cattle and horses and spent countless hours on his combine and his 4020 tractor. He was a proud farmer! Joe was an avid hunter and looked forward to deer season every year.
Joe later married Jean Padgett in 1971. They lived on the family farm until her passing in 1998. Joe Baker was a good, honest man. A loving father and grandfather, brother and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His son, Joe Curtis Baker; His parents, Perry and Floy Baker His wife, Jean Baker.
Joe leaves behind: His daughter, Mitzi Terry and husband Mike of Criner; His sister Louise Reid and niece Linda Reid of Tulsa 3 grandchildren, Marce Hotz and husband Chad of Yukon Matt Terry and wife Rachel of Duncan Abraxas Baker of Dallas 4 great grandchildren, Kamden Hotz, Landry Kate Terry, Elijah Baker and Isaiah Baker and one on the way; Special friend and companion, Betty Hyde of Norman and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel.
