Joyce Collene Foust was born February 20, 1963 to J.C. and Barbara Foust at Plainview, Texas. She attended school at Taloga, Oklahoma. Joyce married Joe Baker on November 9, 1980 and had their first son, J.C. Baker on August 29, 1981. They moved around following work before settling at Thomas, OK where their second son, Justin Baker, was born on September 13, 1986. They soon moved to Clinton, MO. Joyce managed a Ramada Inn kitchen until 1990 (she was the best chef). She and Joe parted ways and she started her new life in Enid, OK where she worked multiple jobs including managing Cattleman’s Steak House and several other kitchens.
In 1995 Joyce had a terrible accident that changed her life forever. Doctors said she wouldn’t walk again or have use of her right hand. She was stubborn though and proved them all wrong and walked out of the hospital. Once Joyce healed she moved to a warmer climate in Mesa, Arizona. Joyce met Murray (Turtle) Matthews in 1998. Joyce and Murray came back home to Oklahoma near Fay where they had a daughter born on May 24, 1999, Journey Dawn Matthews. Journey and Joyce moved to Lowry City, Missouri in the fall of 2004 near her brother Jake and sister Peggy until the fall of 2008 before moving back to Oklahoma. Joyce lived the rest of her days near Oakwood, OK before she passed on July 13, 2022.
