Charley M. Baker

Caldwell – C. M. Baker, 92, retired farmer, died Thursday in St. Francis Medical Center at Wichita. He was 92.

His funeral was conducted at 2 PM Sunday, August 31, in Schaeffer – Reager Mortuary Chapel.

Rev. Wayne Hammar, of pastor of Central Christian Church, officiated. Burial was in Caldwell City Cemetery.

Mr. Baker was born November 11, 1893, in rural Sumner County, son of John and Nettie Baker.

He married Vlasta Cadek on February 11, 1919, at Medford. She preceded him in death May 15, 1985.

Survivors are four sons, John Baker, Edwin Baker and Thomas Baker, all of Caldwell, and Henry Baker of Medford; 19 grandchildren, 23 great – grandchildren and one sister, Louise Klima, Caldwell.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Kolarik, a grandson and eight brothers and two sisters.

There is a memorial in his name to Caldwell District Hospital. Contributions may be made directly or through the mortuary.
