Alfred M. "Mike" Baker
March 24, 1939 ~ July 8, 2020

Alfred M. “Mike” Baker passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family} at home on July 8, 2020 in Sugar Land, TX at the age of 81. Mike was born on March 24, 1939 in Durant, Ok to Letha Frances and Alfred T. Baker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Frances Hannon and nephew John Hannon.

Mike is survived by his wife Jo Ann Baker, Daughter Christi Holcomb (Denny Holcomb), son Keith Baker, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and nephew Randall Hannon.

He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and received a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Sam Houston State University in 1967. He married Jo Ann Parker, in 1965. He was an Oilfield Chemist for 50 years.

Mike was a member of Sugar Land First United Methodist Church for 48 years and served as an usher for 40 years. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

He was actively involved in the Gulf Coast Region Blood Center and donated a total of 65 gallons to help save the lives of others.

Mike was a member of The Rotary Club of Oyster Creek. He served as President and Treasurer and received many service awards.

He was an avid hunter with a flair for fashion. He is fondly known in the neighborhood as Farmer Fred!

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery Addickes Addition in Huntsville, TX, with a celebration of life to be announced later. Pastor Silverio Sanchez will officiate the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you to Donate in Tribute in memory of Mike to the Michael J.
