Clarence Thomas “Tom” Bailey was born on April 9, 1938 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Glen Bailey and Loretta (McCoy) Gillette. He passed away on December 2, 2020 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Tom lived in Logan County all of his life. He wore many different hats throughout his lifetime including serving in the United States Navy, serving and retiring as a volunteer fire chief from the Crescent Fire Department, serving as a referee for 30 years, and even being a private investigator. He worked for OG&E for 35 years as a lineman and local representative and retired in 1995. He was very proud that he was a plankowner and part of both the U.S.S. Ranger’s maiden voyage and decommission. Tom’s hobbies included flying and farming. He attended the West Guthrie United Methodist Church and the Methodist Church in Crescent.
Survivors include his wife Barbra, daughter Tami Boxley and husband Gary of Guthrie, son Pat Bailey and wife Rhonda of Guthrie, and daughter Anne Marie Thurman and husband Tim of Guthrie. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his mother Loretta Gillette and sister Susie Mize.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
