Myrtle "Irene" Bacon, age 91, and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on December 27, 2013 at her home.

Myrtle Irene Gardner was born on October 4, 1922 in Jenks, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Leroy Gardner and Mary Elvira (Crabtree) Gardner. She attended Jenks and Tulsa Public Schools, as well as Catoosa and Ramona Public Schools.
Irene married LeRoy Bacon on May 13, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They moved to Vera after they were married, and in 1954, they moved to Bartlesville. She attended the Ramona House of Prayer.

She was a homemaker for most of her married life, but she waitressed a short time at Marie's Steakhouse and Kenny's Caf�, in Bartlesville. She also owned and operated the Cart Center, inc., Bartlesville.

Among the many activities Irene enjoyed was gardening. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. She went to South Dakota, bird-hunting off mules for 40 consecutive years. She loved music and played the piano and the dobro, playing at nursing homes in the area. Her favorites were country, gospel and bluegrass.

She loved her family and her many friends and acquaintances. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy, if the family home; children, Ted Bacon and his wife, Rose, of Afton, Oklahoma, Donna Sharp and her husband, Mike of Bartlesville; grandchildren, Jolynn Manes of Bartlesville, Lisa McGraw and her husband, Danny, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill Bacon also of Las Vegas, Doyle Brookshire and his wife, Gail, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Leon Bacon and his wife, Kelly, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Sanders of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Betty Jo Williams of Renton, Washington;.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Mary Gardner; one son, Donald L. Bacon; two brothers, Donald Gardner and Jack Gardner; one sister, LeeElla Metzker; and a great-grandson, Danny J. McGraw.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Services will be held in the Friends Church of Ramona on Tuesday, at 2:00 PM. Pastor Mark Wright will officiate.
