N.G. Austin United States Army Retired passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore, OK at the age of 95. N.G. was born on June 12, 1924 in Tom, Oklahoma to Emmit and Arizona Tool Austin.
N.G. enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and retired in 1966. He continued his service by starting the Durant VFW Post 3916 in Durant. He was also a member of the DAV and the American Legion. He dearly loved his Country and all military personnel. N.G. married Shirley Howell and they have been blessed with 53 years together. They moved to Durant in 1987.
N.G. was preceded in death by his 2 daughters, Sue Johnson and Denise Ramos; parents; three sisters and one brother.
N.G. is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Austin; daughter, Della Gray and husband Frank; granddaughter, Tanya Ramos and her son Devin Starkus; granddaughter, Sarah and husband Luke; grandson, Michael Cummings and great grandchildren, Anna, Emmy and Lucas.
A celebration of N.G.’s life with full Military Honors will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Chaplain Leon Veazey will officiate. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
