Fairview – A private service for Charles Robert "Bob" Austin, 78, was held Thursday in Enid.
He was born March 25, 1923, in Bloom, Kansas, to Walter Austin and Mahala Rogers Austin and died Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Petal, Mississippi.
His first 30 years of life was spent in western Kansas. He moved to Major County in 1951. On February 10, 1952, he married Nettie Huston. He worked 18 years for Warren Petroleum in Ringwood and seven years for Testco Inc. in Watonga. He also worked in the restaurant business. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, LeNore Summer and Samantha Mendenhall; one brother, Duane Broyles; four daughters, Peggy MacCachran, Pamela McCullah, Penny Austin and Patty Dunn; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997, one brother and two sisters.
