Dave Melvin Atteberry

Dave Melvin Atteberry
April 15, 1951 ~ June 23, 2018

Dave Melvin Atteberry was born on April 15, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to Billy Ray and Mary Jane Atteberry. Dave passed from this life on June 23, 2018 in Denison, TX at the age of 67. 

Dave married Shirley Ann Phipps in Oklahoma City and they moved to Bryan County in 1976. Dave was an owner/operator in the trucking business for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed truckin, NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, his two dogs, Chole and Prissy, sneaking off to Choctaw when he could but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orville Clay Atteberry; grandson, Danny Lee Vandenburg and son in law, Ricky Barnett.

Dave is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley of the home; children, Verna Black and husband Eldon of Hamilton, TX, Angel Barnett and husband Tony Mullen of Hendrix, OK, Brandy Vandenburg and husband Danny of Durant, OK, Dave Atteberry of Durant, OK and Mary Atteberry and fiancé Matt Strickland of Sherman, TX; grandchildren, Bobby Atteberry of Durant, OK, Clayton and Britney Vandenburg of Durant, OK, Tyler Barnett and Kayla Erwin of Willis, OK, Dale Ratcliff Jr. of Hamilton, TX, Mason Layne of Denison, TX, Tiffany Dawson and husband Derek of Hobbs, NM and Heather Taylor of Hobbs, NM; great grandchildren, Nolan, Dudley and Joslynn Vandenburg, Ryder, Kaisley, Kenlyn and Rowdy Barnett, Jeremy Starr and Brynleigh, Brayden, Hunter and Emma Dawson; nephews, Billy Atteberry and wife Sheryl and Orville Clay Atteberry and numerous extended family and friends. 

The family has chosen cremation and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
