Richard Atkinson Sr.
November 24, 1948 ~ October 19, 2017

Richard Atkinson Sr., 68, died Thursday October 19, 2017 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano following complications from health issues. 

He is survived by his wife Melissa, his son Richard Atkinson Jr from his previous marriage to Minnie Atkinson, and step-children Katrina Groom and Adam Vance, five grandchildren; Tiffany Atkinson, Jessica Manning, Caitlyn Atkinson, Kalli Haight, and Alison Groom, four great grandchildren and his brother Reverend Jack Atkinson. 

He was born November 24, 1948 to Ralph and Harriett Atkinson in Enid Oklahoma and preceded in death by his parents and six brothers; Bruce, Jim, Jerry, Leonard, Don and Bob. 

Richard graduated from Enid High in 1966. After high school he served in the Air Force for eight years. He retired from Vance Air Force Base in 2014 after 35 years as an aircraft mechanic. Upon retirement he and his wife Melissa moved to Frisco Texas in 2014. He loved woodworking, art, golfing, coaching girls softball, and restoring old cars. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed. 

A memorial service will be held at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Saturday October 28, 2017. Guestbook is available at www.andersonburris.com
