Funeral services for Lillie Ann (Croley) Atkinson (83) will be held on Friday, March 12, at 10:00 am at the Silo Baptist Church, Silo, OK with Reverends Buddy Johnson and Roger Speers officiating. Family visitation will be from 7-8 pm Thursday evening at Coffey ~Murray Funeral Home, Durant, OK. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hayes, Wendell Peoples, Billy Hayes and Dale Ballard.
Lillie was born on August 23, 1926 in Silo, OK and passed away Wednesday morning at Homestead Nursing Center in Sherman, TX. She was the youngest and last surviving of eight children born to Samuel D. and Anna Harriett (Shelnut) Croley.
On November 17, 1945 she married Donald Ray Atkinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Ray Atkinson May 15, 2003, parents; sisters, Unavay Burke, Beulah Peoples, Laura Slaten, Lucy Hayes and Wilma Burnell; brothers, J. R. Croley and Sam D. Croley.
She is survived by son, Tom Atkinson of Durant; granddaughters, Ashlie Atkinson and Alissa Atkinson also of Durant as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillie was a life time member of Silo Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the 1944 graduating class of Mead High School. She was employed by Wacker's Dime Store in Durant, the Big Five Day Care in Durant and the Head Start Program in Silo.
She and her husband, Don, worked many hours contributing to the upkeep of the Silo Cemetery and the maintenance of the Silo Baptist Church. Lillie was an excellent cook and her family remembers with fondness her wonderful fried pies.
