The funeral for Donald W. Atkinson, 62, will be 2 PM Saturday in Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with his brother Jack Atkinson officiating. His remains will be cremated after the service at his request.
He was born October 16, 1935, in Enid to Ralph and Harriett Duggan
Atkinson and died Thursday, March 26, 1998, at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital.
He was a graduate of Enid high and worked for Owens Supply Company and
J. W. Hill Electric Company prior to working with Thilsted Electric Company
for 26 years. He married Myrtle Mae Scott on June 16, 1972, in Drummond and
they made their home in Enid.
He was a member of the first United Methodist Church of Enid.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Mae, of the home; five daughters, Wendy Savage of Durant, Carolyn McDonald of Ketchikan, Alaska, Toni Parsons, Lisa Atkinson, both of Enid, Jana Grantz of Rifle, Colorado; three sons, Bill Atkinson of Locust, North Carolina, Jeff Gorton of Drummond, Jay Gorton of Wichita, Kansas; six brothers, Jim, Jerry, Bob, Richard, all of Enid, Jack of Elk City, Leonard of Tulsa; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to fight muscular dystrophy.
