James Anthony Ashford

James enlisted in the Marines 24 September 1965, at the New York Recruiting Office.

He arrived in Vietnam 12 July 1967 and was assigned to Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.

James was on a patrol when he died of a gunshot wound to the chest from a hostile sniper, 4 kilometers east southeast of Gio Lingh Village while participating in Operation Napoleon/ Saline.

Survived by mother: Eilean Ashford of 217 Post Ave, Westbury, NY and his father, James Ashford of Route #3, Box 100, Blanchard, OK.

His father has since passed (1989) and is buried in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha Oklahoma .

According to the wall his Home of Record is listed to be Blanchard, Oklahoma.
