Margaret Ash, 97, of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, January 4, 2013. She was born September 27, 1915, in Olney, Oklahoma to Augustus and Hannah Brown Hilburn.
Margaret married Walter Ash on October 10, 1933 in Durant. Margaret and Walter moved from Mead to Orange, California in the early 40's and that was home until they moved back to Oklahoma in the 1970's. During those years Margaret was a homemaker for Walter and their three children. She packed oranges during the summertime and taught china painting for several years, later she added porcelain doll making and oil painting to her interests. Margaret also loved tending her flowers, especially the Irises and Peonies. She loved helping other in any way she could. Margaret was a faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Durant for many years.
Mrs. Ash is survived by her; son, Daniel Ash and his wife Alice of Rockwall, Texas; daughters, Pat Thacker of Denison, Texas and Mary Ducote of Mead, Oklahoma; grandsons, Bill Thacker and Wayne Thacker of Sherman, Texas, Randall Thacker of Bedfordshire, England, Scott Ducote of Mead, Oklahoma and Jason Ash of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Elizabeth Bennett of Princeton, Texas; great-grandsons, Aaron, Lance and Anthony; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Alyssa, Amy, Sara, Jennifer and Michelle; sister, Elizabeth Trent of Colbert, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Ash was preceded in death by her; husband, Walter; parents, Augustus and Hannah Hilburn; brothers, Vester and Allen; sisters, Myrtle, Cleo and Jean.
A Funeral Service in her honor will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Bill Ledbetter officiating.
