Oklahoma City – A Memorial service for Mary T. Asfahl, 98, will be 11 AM Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at Hahn – Cook Street and Draper Funeral Home, 6006 North Grand Blvd., Oklahoma City.

She was born April 3, 1901, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, to Elmer F. and Julia Cochrane Thompson and died Saturday, May 1, 1999. She attended Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois.

On June 7, 1926, she married Milton Asfahl in St. Louis, Missouri. She earned a masters degree in library science from the University of Oklahoma, then supervised establishing libraries and bookmobiles statewide. While living in Enid, she served as president of the YWCA Executive Board and Fine Arts Club, vice president of Rotary Ann and secretary of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a charter member and Secretary of the Women's Committee of Oklahoma City Symphony and organized and chaired Oklahoma City Symphony school concerts. She also served as president of Ladies Music Club, Town Hall, Sigma Alpha Iota Patronesses and Early American Glass Club. She was on the executive board of the McDowell Club and the Oklahoma Art League; and secretary and program chairman of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an active member of the Third Friday Book Club, Redbud Women's Club, Oklahoma Arts Center Association, Oklahoma Heritage Society, Oklahoma Historical Society and Oklahoma Museum of Art.

Surviving are one daughter, Martha Allen of Tucson, Arizona; one son, Charles of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and nine great – grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to charity of donor's choice.
