Jerry Arnold died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 10:30 P.M. in Bartlesville. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Jerry was born June 22, 1916 at Vian, OK to Augustus G. Arnold and Dora Belle Atkins Arnold. She moved with her family to Bartlesville, OK in August, 1923.
She graduated from Bartlesville High School in the class of 1936. She joined forces with Phillips Petroleum Company in December, 1936. Her dedication to her duties and a desire to excel in every job opportunity that she received led her to become the executive secretary for Ed Vandenbark, vice-president of the International Department. At her retirement in February, 1983 she was greeted by many lives that she touched over a span of 46 years with Phillips Petroleum Company.
She traveled extensively over these years with Phillips; some professionally and some socially. She grew to love the architecture, museums, art and music over the years that she was employed. Jerry was very pleased that she went to Europe once on the QE2 and returned on the Concorde. She traveled to most of the countries (especially England) many times.
In her retirement (life after Phillips), Jerry did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, the Jane Phillips Hospital Gift Shop, helped out at the box office for the symphony and worked at some of the Red Cross functions. Probably others I did not know about-she stayed busy in retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her sisters and brothers, Iva Allen, Amy Kingsbury, Cecil Brown, Leo Arnold, Ernest Arnold and Morris Arnold.
Jerry is survived locally by a nephew Bob Kingsbury and my wife Judy. Also surviving several nieces and nephews including a very special friend, Mary Gray.
Medical contributions may be made in her memory to Carter Hospice, 3081 S.E. Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.
