Lloyd Reed Armstrong, 98, of Bodfish California, passed at home Sunday, March 19, 2023. Son of Ivan and Zella (Melott) Armstrong, he was born on his Grandparents Melott farm, in Jefferson OK.
Lloyd lived in Medford until enlisting in the Navy and served in the South Pacific, WWII. On returning to the U.S., he was stationed at the Norman, OK, Naval Base. Lloyd met Virginia (Ginny) Moss, of Katy, Oklahoma, and they married October 9, 1945. After discharge from the Navy, Lloyd enrolled in Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, OK, completing his education degree at East Central College, Ada, OK. Lloyd first taught in Elk City, OK, later moving to Anaheim, California, schools. He retired from Anaheim and then moved to Bodfish, CA, living there for 30-plus years.
Lloyd was the inveterate Jack of All Trades, carpenter, model and RC airplane builder, mechanic, welder, baker, pottery thrower. He rebuilt a 1930's model Ford Coupe and did metal and woodworking, and more.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Ginny; his parents; three sons, Jim, Brian, Ricky; brother, Bruce and wife Magda; sister-in-law, Judy (Bay) Armstrong. Surviving are grandchildren, Laura (Martin) Aubuchon, Jeff Armstrong, Jessica (Vince) Luton, Melissa (Justin)
Atkinson, Grant (Amelia) Armstrong, Corrine (Ara) Beaver, McKenna Armstrong; six great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Louise (Dickey) Vaughn and Judy (Nagy) Armstrong; brothers, Dennis Armstrong, AK (Shirley) Armstrong.
A graveside service will be 2:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on 2023-04-14 at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Bakersfield, California.
