A Note from The Virtual Wall:
Gunnery Sergeant Armstrong entered the Marines in 1950/51 and no doubt served in the Korean War. At one time he served aboard USS JUNEAU (LPD-10) and is remembered by his shipmates from that tour. Regretably The Virtual Wall does not have a listing of GySgt Armstrong's decorations and can display only the four we know he received for his service in Vietnam. Dean Edward Armstrong, Gunnery Sergeant, United States Marine Corps, was buried on 24 Mar 1967 in Plot P-0-1556, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, among other men of courage and integrity.
