Perry Joe “Chief” Arkeketa of WhiteEagle, Okla. made his journey to be with our lord, on Sunday, May 15th 2022.
Perry was born March 12, 1967 in Pawnee, Okla to Alfred, Sr (Deceased) and Clairene Arkeketa. He completed his education in 1987 graduating from Riverside Indian School. Known as a natural born athlete he excelled on the basketball court while brushing up his artwork skills using acrylics. He loved to listen to music and going on walks with his grandchildren and he looked forward to playing volleyball, shinny and basketball any chance he got.
Survivors include, two daughters, Rachel Arkeketa of Pawnee and Whitney Arkeketa of White Eagle; his mother Clairene; brother Spencer, his wife Cheryl; sister Jewel, her husband Preston; sister Diane, husband Jim; brother Ben, wife Cami; sister-in-law Thomasine; brother Bennett Crazybear. Numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Perry was preceded in death by his father Alfred (T-bone) Arkeketa and older brother Alfred (Jr’O) Arkeketa.
Wake services will be held Monday and Tuesday at 7p at the Cultural Center followed by refreshments. Funeral will be Wednesday, a traditional noon meal followed by the service starting at 2p. Pastor Jim White of the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church will be officiating, assisted by Dr. Rev Louis Headman.
