Johnny Aplin a resident of Calera, Oklahoma and a beloved family member left this life and joined his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the age of 68. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma on November 24, 1947 to Willis Franklin and Molly (Wright) Aplin. Johnny married Patsy Smith in Durant, Oklahoma on July 28, 1969. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage together.
Johnny served his state in the Oklahoma National Guard for 26 years. He was a faithful, dedicated member of the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Johnny owned and operated his own truck until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his four grandsons. He also enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Aplin is survived by his beloved wife Patsy of their home; son, Michael Aplin and wife Susanni of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Misty Brown and husband Marlon of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandsons, Augustus Brown, Solomon Brown, Cyrus Brown and Nathaniel Aplin; sisters, Delphia Hutchins of Durant, Oklahoma, Irene Englutt of Durant, Oklahoma and Tiny Mullins of Colbert, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Vernon Smith and wife Nancy of Silo, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Liz McWilliams of Durant, Oklahoma, Rose Dunn of Durant, Oklahoma, Ginger Smith of Silo, Oklahoma and Johnnie Mae Aplin of Durant, Oklahoma; his close care-giver and friend, Jackie Davis of Denison, Texas; and also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Mr. Aplin was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Molly Aplin; 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
A family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 1st at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A church service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 2nd at the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church in Coleman with Chaplain Marlon Brown and Bro. Benny Arnott officiating. The pallbearers will be Dean Balentine, Tyler Balentine, Justin Hall, Vernon Smith, Charlie Aplin and Robert Aplin.
