William Earl Anderson, Jr., (aka Andy, Junior, Bill, Earl, Mr. Anderson, Pops), 72, was called to his new journey with the Lord on March 7, 2015. He was born February 19, 1943 in Cushing, OK to William Earl Anderson, Sr. and Grace Ophelia Buffington.
Andy was a fourth and fifth grade teacher in Guthrie Public Schools for 25 years, and also taught special education and GED classes for the first few years. Andy earned his bachelor's in education and master's degree in counseling at Central State University in Edmond, OK. Andy also owned a nonprofit gym in downtown Guthrie called "The Sweat Box". After retiring, he purchased Daniels Drug from the Daniels' family in 2000 with his wife and daughter.
In 1980, Andy and Sarah made their home in Guthrie, OK where they have lived for 35 years. Andy was famous for "swats" and his little yellow truck. He loved baseball, diet coke, and anything health or exercise related. Andy enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren; coaching, watching, or playing baseball; golfing; lifting weights; and being a kid! His laughter, spunk, and kid-like ways will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, his brother William (Buddy) Alfred Anderson, and his sisters, Betty Kirkendall and Bonnie Anderson.
Andy is survived in life by his wife, Sarah Anderson of Guthrie, OK; his children, Amy Anderson-Carothers and Phillip Carothers of Guthrie; Chris and Kimberly Anderson of Melissa, TX; and Angela Anderson of Houston, TX. Pops was the grandfather of Camden, Campbell, and Cruz Anderson of Melissa, TX and Parker, Alexandra, and Adley Carothers of Guthrie, OK. He is also survived by his sisters Carolyn Mills and Barbara Jackson of Cushing, OK, many nieces and nephews, and his extended family of friends and acquaintances in and around the Guthrie area.
The celebration of Andy's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at First Christian Church in Guthrie, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Logan County Council on Aging, 1102 East Warner Avenue, Guthrie, OK, 73044 which is an organization that was dear to Andy.
