Jack William Anderson, formerly of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, was born October 29, 1904 in Clarendon, Texas. He passed away at Maryvale Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, September 4, 1983, after a short illness. He was 78 years of age.
Jack attended Anderson Grade School located about three miles southwest of Cheyenne. He then attended Cheyenne High School where he was quite active in sports, especially basketball.
At a young age, he joined the Cheyenne Baptist Church where his father was a charter member.
He served his country in the U.S. Army of World War II. After the war, he returned to his former job driving for Lee Way Freight, Inc. from El Paso, Texas, to Tucson, Arizona. Upon retirement, he received a plaque in recognition of his services from 1948-1973.
Jack's goal in life was just to be himself and be a friend to everyone. That was the real Jack Anderson.
Memorial services were conducted Friday, September 9, 1983 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona with Rev. Harry Ryan, Pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. The Masons closed the service with The Last Rites, and burial was in a crypt of the beautiful mausoleum.
Jack had been a Mason for 50 years.
Survivors present were his wife, Elvira of the home, 5233 West Vernon, Phoenix, Arizona; a step-daughter, Mary Paz of Mexico City; two sisters, Mae Perkins of Pueblo, Colorado; and Goldie Mobley of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Gilbert Anderson and wife, Lois of Cheyenne; and a host of friends.
