Memorial services for Jerry C. "Driller" Anderson, 79, of Stonewall are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Bob Graham will officiate.
Mr. Anderson passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at a Shawnee hospital. He was born December 18, 1936 in Jesse to Heas and Nellie Gouge Anderson. He attended Jesse schools.
He married Juanita Foreman . She preceded him in death August 1, 1996. Throughout his life he drilled many oil and water wells. He and his dad drilled probably 90 % of the water wells in the Stonewall area. He had been to Algeria to work in the oilfield and also drilled offshore. He was a tool pusher for Royal Drilling Company, later worked as a dump truck driver for Pontotoc County District 3 until his retirement. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Stonewall Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Grant Ellis and wife Darlene of Stonewall; two daughters, Jennie Crawford and husband Jackie of Stonewall and Janet Truitt and husband Richard of Stonewall; a son-in-law, Pat Daniel of Stonewall; eight grandchildren, Jerry Ellis and wife Angela, Stonewall, Cody Ellis and wife Monica, Ada, Revelle Felkins and husband Justin, Fitzhugh, Trula Churchill and husband Linn, Valentine, NE, Jimmie Truitt, Wichita Falls, TX, Leroy Daniel and wife Lisa, Stonewall, Elizabeth Wartchow and husband Mark, Roff and Stephanie Wright and husband David, Byng; eight great-grandchildren, Kirby and Luke Ellis, Conner Ellis, Trenton Daniel, Zachary Wright, Parker Wright, Riley Wartchow, Makenzie Wartchow and Delaney and Leslie Daniel; nephews, Roger Anderson, Robert Mike Anderson, Don Anderson, Rodger Dunlap and Ernie Dunlap; and nieces, Laquita Anderson and Rene' Gay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two daughters, Anne Miller and Beverly Daniel; five sisters; and five brothers.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Cantrell, Ricky Romine, Jim Edwards, Randy Curtis, Brad Gipson, Larry Cox, Bill Box, Ron Hall and Chris Snell.
