Herbert Ames Jr., age 59 of Maysville, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 29, 2016 at his home.
Herbert Eugene Ames Jr. was born September 13, 1956 in Van Buren, Arkansas, the 3rd of 5 children born to Herbert Ames Sr. and Ivie Alice (Cooper) Ames. He was raised primarily in Muskogee and attended school there. The Ames family lived in California for a time, but eventually settled back in Oklahoma. Herbert worked at a grain elevator for a short time, before a breathing disability forced him to quit at the coop. He would mow lawns when he could and enjoyed working that way. Herbert was a big man with an even bigger heart. He loved his family! He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and never missed a chance to watch an old western movie. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Herbert Sr. and Ivie Ames; A sister, Cora Belle Cole and A brother, James Michael Ames.
Herbert leaves behind: Two sisters, Linda Woods of Lexington and Peggy Hammond of Maysville; Several cousins, nieces and nephews and A host of other family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for a later date.
