James Edward "Jimmy" Allen
November 29, 1925 ~ March 16, 2018

James Edward "Jimmy" Allen, 92, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was born November 29, 1925 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Jimmy grew up and spent most of his early years in Norfolk, Virginia. He enlisted with the United States Army in 1944 serving two years. Following his service to our country, Jimmy worked for over twenty years for the Naval Air Systems Command in Norfolk. Upon retirement, Jimmy lived in Virginia for a few years but would eventually move to Pensacola, Florida. In Pensacola, Jimmy volunteered for many years with the local YMCA and befriended two wonderful friends, Wendy Ellis and Carmen Jones. Jimmy also became a 3rdDegree Knight of Columbus and also volunteered with the Red Cross and attended St. Michael Catholic Church. In recent years, Jimmy moved to Guthrie to be closer to family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Jr.

Jimmy is survived by his sister, Anne Burch of Guthrie and by many, many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Guthrie.  Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary School Tuition Assistance, 411 North Elm St., Guthrie, OK 73044.
