Allen was killed in a car accident East of Alva Sunday morning.
Homer W. Allen was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday morning at an Alva hospital with a broken neck and head injuries he received in a two – car collision east of Alva.
Allen reportedly backed his car from a private driveway 6.9 miles east of Alva onto U. S. 64 in front of a westbound car driven by Keith Ray Dungan, 20, Cherokee. The collision occurred at 12:20 AM Sunday. The Dungan car struck Allen's vehicle broadside on the driver side. OHP reports indicate that the roads were dry, but the weather quite foggy at the time of the collision.
The fatality is the 27th for the year in this Highway Patrol district, which is considerably below last year's district total of 50 through the end of October.
His survivors include his wife, the former Faye Tarwater; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Dreizler of Redondo Beach, California, and Mrs. Sarah Oglesby of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Leo Jacobs, Independence; one brother, Frank S. Allen, also of Independence.
The family has suggested that those who wish may make memorials to the Heart Fund of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
