Faye (Price) Allen

???? ~ June 17, 2004 | Age 85

HOUMA, La. - Faye Price Allen, 85, died Thursday, June 17, 2004.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church Sanctuary with Barry Hoekstra, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Landry Family Plot at the Holy Rosary Church Cemetery by Chauvin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen's entrepreneurial spirit led her into self-owned businesses including premier gift shops in Michigan and Texas and the Texas-certified Auntie Faye's Day Care Center in Texas. She was an award-winning, published author who loved writing, which she studied at Amarillo College.

In later years, in addition to writing (often with her sisters), she chose to take educational courses at Amarillo College so she would be able to help functionally illiterate adults learn to read using the Laubach Training System.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Houma, Writers of the Golden Spread and the A.S.C. Writing Group, both in Amarillo, Texas, and was a certified tutor in the Laubach Literary Action Program.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Allen; her parents, Rad and Madonna Price; two sisters, Ivy Jo Price, and Evelyn Barnhill and husband, Jack; two brothers Olvin A. Price and Leonard Price and wife, Pearl; and a brother-in-law, Dr. E.C. Landry Sr.

Survivors include a sister, Lou Landry of Houma; two brothers, Richard Price and wife, Mildred, of Shawnee, Okla. and Bill Price and wife, Willetta, of Grove, Okla.; a sister-in-law, La Nell Price of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; 16 loving nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, 6109 Highway 311, Houma, LA 70360 or to the Amarillo Area Adult Literacy Council, P.O. Box 447, Amarillo, TX 79178.
