Ocie "John" Alford was born May 13, 1949 in Carroll County, Mississippi to Francis Arlene and Ocie Ola Alford. He passed away February 16, 2016 at his home in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 3 days.

Ocie grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi where he attended school. Upon the passing of his father, Ocie obtained his first job as first mate running barges on the Mississippi River to support his family. In the early 70's Ocie went to work for Otis Engineering as a wireline hand before finding employment with Hydraulic Well Inc. After the company changed hands and became Hydraulic Well Control, Ocie became a snubbing supervisor. In the early 80's Ocie went to work for Cudd Pressure Control and remained a snubbing supervisor.

He was married to Nancy G. (Jackson) Alford at Del City, Oklahoma on February 7, 1982. After their marriage they remained in the Elk City community and Ocie began traveling overseas to Holland, England and Norway operating Odfjell Well Intervention from 1993 - 1996. On January 1, 1997, Ocie went back to work for Hydraulic Well Control and remained with them through the acquisition by Boots & Coots Oilwell Control and eventually Halliburton.

In 2007 Ocie and Nancy moved to the Norman, Oklahoma area and Ocie retired in 2012 due to his health. Ocie enjoyed hunting and fishing in western Oklahoma and being a cut-up and jokester.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Linda Faye Alford White, 1 infant brother, William Lamar and his mother in law, Hazel Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; 3 children, Sherisse Thomas and husband Terry, Norman, OK, Jason Carroll Alford and wife, Hailen, Sanger, TX and Kacey Naber, Tomball, TX; 8 grandchildren, Lauren Grybowski, Yukon, OK, Kiley Grybowski, Norman, OK, Hayden Hostetter, Norman, OK, Jacob Carroll Alford, Sanger, TX, Jason Carroll Alford, Jr., Sanger, TX, Joshua Carroll Alford, Sanger, TX, Benjamin Naber, Tomball, TX and Elizabeth Naber, Tomball, TX; 2 great grandchildren, Ean Lee Cheney, Norman, OK and Khloe "Bear" Harrison, Norman, OK; 2 sisters, Debbie Gale Sanders and husband, Johnny, Minter City, MS and Donna Marie Barefoot and husband, Jamie, Lakeview, AL; father-in-law, Thomas Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
