Shirley (Conrad) Alexander

June 28, 1923 ~ June 3, 2005

Shirley Conrad Alexander, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died June 3, 2005 in Naperville, Illinois from pneumonia.

She was born June 28, 1923 to Virgil and Edith Conrad in Rankin, Oklahoma.

When the railroad come through western Oklahoma, the town of Rankin relocated to Reydon, Oklahoma.

Shirley graduated from high school and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she met her future husband, A. J. "Alex" Alexander.

Shirley and A. J. were married in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on October 16, 1943 just before A. J. shipped off to the war.

Shirley and A. J. lived in Ponca City, Oklahoma; Houston, Texas; Tenafly, New Jersey; and Greenwich, Connecticut before retiring and moving back to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and then to Norman, Oklahoma in 1986.

After A. J.'s death in March of 2005, Shirley moved to Naperville, Illinois to be near her daughter.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Verna Marriott; daughter, Cathy Parks; and her loving husband of 61 years, A. J.

She is survived by a son, Jon and wife Dao of Thailand; two daughters, Saren Murray and husband Jim of Naperville, Illinois; and Ellen Alexander of Montclair, New Jersey; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
