Marilyn Louise (Minton) Alexander

August 8, 1935 ~ December 12, 2012

Marilyn Louise Minton Alexander, 77, of Siloam Springs Arkansas passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2012. She was born on August 8th, 1935 in Enid, Oklahoma, the third child of Muriel and Roy Minton. Her older brothers Dale and Dwight Minton were very dear to her. Marilyn met her husband, Doyle Leroy Alexander, in ninth grade algebra class in Nov of 1949 and they began dating after a friend set them up on a blind date. They were the closest of friends throughout high school and attended OSU Technical College together, and finally married on Dec 27th, 1953. They settled in Bartlesville, OK where they lived for 25 years and raised their three daughters, Melanie Sue, Molly Jo, and Jennifer Lee.

Marilyn loved the Lord and was a Bible scholar all her life. She was very active at their churches in Bartlesville, Trinity Baptist and Eastern Heights Baptist, where she served in Women's Missions and Sunday School for many years. In 1981 the Alexander's moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and made Nicodemus Community their church home.

Marilyn was a gifted and creative orator and writer. Her friends and family cherished her written letters, wonderful stories, and words of wisdom. She truly was the glue that held the family together and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marilyn is survived by the love of her life, her husband Doyle, with whom she was married nearly 60 years, her three daughters, brother Dwight, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be at Nicodemus Community Church Monday, December 17, 9:00 – 10:45 am with services following at 11:00. Memorial donations can be made in Marilyn's honor to Gideon's International Bible.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
