Melanie Anne Alexander, 58, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK on Friday, November 5, 2021. She was born on June 2, 1963, in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Ralph Huelitt and Frances (Johnson) Smith.
Melanie attended schools in the Dallas area. She lived in Arlington, TX with her husband, Mark Alexander, until his passing in 2017 when she moved to Marietta, OK to be closer to her children. Melanie worked as a waitress for various restaurants. She was of the Lutheran faith. Melanie had a big heart and would help anyone or any animal that was in need.
She enjoyed gardening, decorating, spending time with her dogs, and cooking. Even though she loved to cook, her family would often catch her taking food out of the take-out containers and placing them in her serving dishes. Melanie cherished the times when her children and grandchildren would come over for a family gathering. It made her heart happy.
Melanie is survived by her children, Ashley Hertzler of Marietta, Michelle McKelvy and husband J.R. of Marietta, Tabitha Rawson of Oklahoma City, OK, and Anthony “Tony” Hertzler, Jr. of Ardmore; sister, Lana Vasquez of Marietta; grandchildren, Braxton Hertzler, Jaydence Hertzler, Joshua Verbrugge, Lahauna Dutton, Tatyaina Marshall, Sierra McKelvy, and Tyler McKelvy; great-grandchildren, Eziah Fields, Aria Verbrugge, and Naveiah Fields; and nieces Angela Boyle and Candace Trebing.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mark Alexander.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mark Alexander, Jr., Mike Hart, Ben Trebing, Jim Phillips, John Williams, and Michael Hart.
