Karen Sue (Mitchell) Alexander, age 70, of Bartlesville, OK, formerly of Monett, MO, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013, while at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.
Karen was born on May 25, 1943 in Hurley, MO, the only child born to Ernest W. And Geneva B. (Couch) Mitchell. Karen furthered her education at Tulsa University, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was also a former member of the Eastern Star. She was an active member of the Tuxedo Assembly of God Church in Bartlesville, OK. For many years, Karen worked as a Benefits Coordinator in the health insurance industry.
On June 20, 1965, in Monett, MO, Karen married Terry Fertig. To this union, two daughters were born. On December 12, 1995, in Miami, OK, Karen married Terry Alexander.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Alexander, of Bartlesville; two daughters, Kaysha Morgan, and husband Patrick, of Tulsa, OK and Krista Fertig, and Steve Kosilla, of Stark City, MO; one step-son, John Sehnert, Jr., of Sarcoxie, MO; one aunt, Margaret Branch, and husband Bob, of Bartlesville; four grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mrs. Alexander will be held at 2:00 p.m. On Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel in Monett. Reverend Brent Logsdon will officiate. Friends are invited to stay and visit with the family following the services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
