Danny Akin, 59 year old Woodward resident died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 19, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Barros officiating.
Danny Lee Akin was born on July 9, 1958 in Belen, New Mexico the son of Charles Donald Akin and Jane (Bergen) Akin. Danny spent his childhood in Waynoka, Oklahoma and graduated from Waynoka High School with the class of 1977. Danny was united in marriage to Sandra Lorine Williams on June 26, 1989 in Lipscomb, Texas they made their home in Woodward. Danny worked for a number of years as a compressor mechanic in the oilfield for Chaparral Energy and later he worked for Atwood's. Danny had just recently started a new career at Mid-Continent Conductor.
He was a member of the Woodward Moose Lodge.
Danny loved spending time with his wife of 29 years, his family, and especially his grandkids, and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed playing softball where he was known as "Socks". He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed carpentry.
Danny is survived by his wife Sandy of the home; mother, Jane Akin Bergen of Waynoka; father, Charles Donald Akin of Clarksville, Tennessee; two sons, Max Price and wife Norma; Darren Price and wife Kim all of Woodward; sisters, Dian Fry and husband Mike of Woodward; Valerie Bassett and husband Bob of Bussey, Iowa; Donna Akin of Clarksville, Tennessee; Charlette Akin and Lloyd Post of Newburg, New York; seven grandchildren, Kristyn Kite; Kendra Pierce; Stephanie Haddock; Kelsey Petty; Hailey Price; Jacob Price; and Aaron Price; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Kite; Jayton and Augustus Petty; and one on the way; several nieces; nephews; other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Reta and Leslie Snyder; paternal grandparents, Louise White and Charlie Akin.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
