John Robert Agan, age 54, of Holdenville, OK, was born on September 12, 1954, in Holdenville, OK. He was the son of Bruce R. and Dorothy VanNest Agan. He departed this life on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in Oklahoma City, OK.
John was a life-long resident of Holdenville and he graduated from Holdenville High School in 1973 and attended Seminole State College for two years. He was employed previously at Burton''s IGA Grocery and at the time of his death at Nichols Dollar Saver in Holdenville. He was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Holdenville and was involved in many activities there, such as building and grounds maintenance, the sound system and special dinners. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed movies, cartoons and shopping for himself and others. His greatest joy was his family and he was a non-stop caregiver for his mother for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy of Holdenville; a brother Mike and his wife Carolyn of Harrah, OK; a nephew Geoff and his family of Harrah, OK; and a niece Cami of Oklahoma City; and many other loved ones and friends, especially his "family" at Nichols.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, Holdenville, on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Worden officiating. Arrangements with Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.
