December 21, 1942 ~ March 9, 2020

Richard Adkins Longtime Ponca City resident passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 in Stillwater with his loving family by his side. He was 77 years of age. Richard was born December 21, 1942 in Ponca City to Henry and Bess Harris Adkins.

Cremation arrangements are in care of Grace Memorial Chapel and a private service was held.

Richard grew up in Ponca City and he graduated from Po High in 1960. Richard met the love of his life Pat Thompson and they were married June 15, 1962 in Ponca City and they made their home in Ponca City. Richard was well known in the Automotive industry as Service Manager working at numerous dealerships in Ponca City starting his career with Pat Murphy Buick Oldsmobile and retiring while working for Jansen Toyota in Stillwater, OK. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family at the family cabin on Lake Ponca and taking family out on his pontoon boat “Ponca Queen”, he was also an avid Sports fan watching football, baseball and basketball, rooting for the OU Sooners and OSU Cowboys. He was a member of the Ponca City Noon AMBUCS and the Chariots Car Club. Richard also enjoyed playing Golf, Fishing and spending time in his garden and working in the yard.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife Pat of 57 years, 3 daughters; Cammy Draper and husband Randy of Broken Arrow, OK Michele Owens and husband Steve and Liz Banister and husband Larry all of Ponca City, OK 2 brothers; Bob Adkins of Tulsa, OK and Ron Adkins and wife Pat of Ponca City, OK 2 sisters: Beth Farr and husband Chet of Arizona and Mary Ann Mitchell and husband Bill of Ponca City; Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Trent Banister, Garrett Draper Anna Draper and Dalton Owens, 2 great grandchildren; Brodie Banister and Rylynn Banister and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter; Kathy Lee Adkins and 1 sister; Shirley Keller.
